Imprisoned comedian Deniz Göktaş said in a post on his social media account, 'After the last tweet, I was arrested two more times.' Göktaş, who described his experiences in prison in a humorous tone, used the expressions, 'I was comforting myself by saying they can't put me in jail again. Apparently they can.'
A new message written by comedian Deniz Göktaş in prison was shared from his social media account, following his arrest as part of an investigation launched after the release of his show titled "Dead Sea" on social media.
Referring to the successive release and re-arrest decisions, Göktaş noted the following in his message:
"I know it will seem like I'm making up an excuse to write to you, but I've been arrested two more times since my last tweet. Sometimes when I lose the lighter that's inventoried in my cell, or when something happens to a book I got from the library, I get very tense out of reflex, but then I'd reassure myself saying, 'What can they do, they can't put me in jail again.' Turns out they can. Anyway, Moby Dick is finished. The indictment is ready. The trial date is September 28th. See you later."
INDICTMENT ACCEPTED
In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was assessed that the suspect Imran Deniz Göktaş committed the crimes of "insulting the president," "publicly inciting the public to hatred and hostility or humiliation," and "praising a crime and the criminal" through the words and expressions she used in the show titled "Dead Sea" published on YouTube on June 24.
In the indictment, which seeks a prison sentence for Göktaş ranging from a total of 2 years and 2 months to 9 years and 8 months, it was stated that the suspect's statements regarding President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in a video on YouTube "exceed the limits of criticism and are at a level that would offend the President's honor, dignity, and reputation in the eyes of society."
In the indictment, which quoted the suspect's words from her show "Dead Sea": "I am still afraid. Of suicide bombers, but I am most afraid of suicide bombers who fast. Because you can escape from normal suicide bombers by not going to Taksim, squares, and crowded places, but it is uncertain where suicide bombers who fast will explode," it was stated that Göktaş made statements "publicly inciting one segment of the public with different characteristics in terms of religion to hatred and hostility against another segment."

The indictment, which stated that expressions praising and legitimizing the criminal actions of the criminal group were used, was sent to the Istanbul 14th Court of First Instance for evaluation.
The court, completing its examination, accepted the indictment. The court, which decided to continue the detention of Göktaş on the charges against her, ruled that the first hearing would be held on September 28.
