During the historic NATO Summit hosted by Ankara on July 7-8 with the participation of dozens of countries, it was revealed that the mayor of Çankaya, the heart of the city, Hüseyin Can Güner, was on vacation in Spain.
The NATO Summit, one of Turkey's most critical diplomatic tests on the international stage, bringing global leaders together in the capital, has brought extraordinary security and logistical preparations across Ankara. However, it has been learned that the mayor of Çankaya, considered the city's showcase, went on a holiday abroad during the summit.

While the Çankaya district was in turmoil due to the summit and high-level security measures were taken, it emerged that CHP's Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner was not in Ankara during such a historic process.
While municipalities hosting international organizations are expected to be represented at the highest institutional level, Güner's departure to Spain for a holiday during these critical days caused a great stir.

Mayor Güner's holiday decision became the target of harsh criticism on television screens. The issue was discussed on the program "Taksim Meydanı" broadcast on TGRT Haber.
Describing the local administrator's decision to go on holiday during a period when the world's eyes were on Ankara, 45 heads of state were in the city, and the entire security bureaucracy was on alert, as "unbelievable," program moderator Gürkan Hacır reacted with these words:
"The whole world is locked in, not a bird flies in Ankara, yet the head of the local government says 'I'm on holiday.' I watch with amazement."
