The Mayor of Ankara, Mansur Yavaş, went to the polls to vote for Ekrem İmamoğlu in the CHP's presidential candidate primary. Speaking to reporters here, Yavaş responded to the question, "Do you expect a similar investigation to come to you?"
"WE HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR"
Yavaş answered this question by saying, "The young people filling the squares today have not seen another government. The young people who take to the squares see the world and other countries. They rebel against lawlessness. It is possible to falsely accuse someone in this country in any way. This secret witness issue needs to be abolished. We have nothing to fear. I have not seen any CHP municipality shy away from being prosecuted. The issue here is the setup. We want to draw a path. We want a country where corruption is eradicated. As social democratic municipalities, we are trying to cover the government's shortcomings," he replied.
"I HOPE THE DETENTION WILL BE LIFTED WITH APPEALS"
Touching on the detention of İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu, Yavaş said, "Detention is a situation that should be applied in very special circumstances. I hope the detention will be lifted with appeals and President Ekrem returns to his job. There is no indictment, only allegations. Could such a thing happen? Even the questions asked made one think, 'What kind of questions are these?' It is incomprehensible. Despite this, the fact that the house was raided with 20 police vehicles reveals the purpose behind it. For this reason, we want early elections. This country should now be one where a neutral and independent judicial system is established. It is not a difficult thing. Enough is enough; it is a shame for the youth," he stated.
