The rapid rise in water level at the Ilısu Dam in the village of Soğuksu (Zorköy), connected to the center of Batman, created an interesting sight. As the dam waters reached right next to a house in the village, the structure, once entirely on land, turned into a scenic house seemingly stranded in the middle of the lake.
The rising water level in the Ilısu Dam, one of the most important vision projects of the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP), continues to change the physical geography of settlements in the region. Recent images captured by cameras in the village of Soğuksu (known as Zorköy), connected to the Batman city center, presented interesting moments.
DAM WATERS ENTERED THE HOUSE
The increasing water level in the region has recently begun to directly affect residential areas in Soğuksu. With the expansion of the boundaries, the dam waters reached the courtyard of a house located within the village borders.
LAND STRUCTURE TRANSFORMED INTO A 'LAKE HOUSE'
This house, which was entirely on dry land and in an arid area before the water rise, took on a completely different silhouette after the increase in water level. As its surroundings became surrounded by water, the structure gained the appearance of a "lake-view" house located on the shoreline.
