The public prosecutor Yavuz Engin's statement, "The person named Yılmaz Güney is a judge killer. He is an enemy of the state with a terrorist mentality. He is stateless. Do not let your children watch him," has ignited a new debate. Yılmaz Güney's family has filed a criminal complaint against Engin with the HSK and the prosecutor's office.
During the investigation of the "Newborn Gang" in Istanbul, public prosecutor Yavuz Engin, who came to the agenda with images of being threatened with death, stated in a post on his social media account, "The person named Yılmaz Güney is a judge killer. He is an enemy of the state with a terrorist mentality. He is stateless. Do not let your children watch him."
YILMAZ GÜNEY'S FAMILY HAS TAKEN ACTION
According to the news by Sibel Yükler from T24; on behalf of Yılmaz Güney's family, lawyer Bişar Alınak submitted a petition to the HSK and the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, requesting a swift investigation against Prosecutor Engin for the crimes of "insulting the memory of a person," "inciting/insulting the public to hatred and enmity," and "abuse of office," and for a public case to be opened against him.
"HE ATTACKED YILMAZ GÜNEY OPENLY"
In the petition, it was stated that Prosecutor Engin's post is "not an expression of opinion; it constitutes a severe and aggressive violation of personality rights that cannot be legally protected and gives rise to criminal acts." It was expressed that "Yavuz Engin, by acting in a manner that clearly contradicts the principles of care, impartiality, and dignity required by his duty and position, openly attacked the moral personality and memory of the late artist Yılmaz Güney, while also using the late artist Yılmaz Güney as a tool to express the anger he has accumulated under the guise of ideology, targeting Kurdish identity through Turkish nationalism."

In the petition, it was stated that Engin is a public servant using state power on behalf of the judiciary as a public prosecutor, and it was emphasized that "The attitude he displayed is not a verbal altercation or an ordinary post for a public prosecutor; it is a serious scandal that directly undermines the dignity of the judiciary by behaving like a social media troll and abuses the principle of impartiality. The office of the public prosecutor exists not to produce lynching, label, create enemies, and organize hatred; but to uphold the law, conduct fair investigations, and maintain the trust of citizens in the state. The suspect has turned the weight of this office, the robe it carries in the name of justice, into the language of a troll shouting slogans in social media arenas; he has reduced the seriousness of the judiciary to a level of interaction hunting."
