In Şanlıurfa, amateur footballer Mustafa Balu (28) lost his life after being hit by another vehicle while pulling over onto the emergency lane to check his malfunctioning car.
The accident occurred on the D-400 highway in the rural Tepedibi neighborhood of Ceylanpınar. Mustafa Balu, who was driving from Ceylanpınar towards Şanlıurfa city center, experienced a vehicle breakdown.
COULD NOT BE SAVED DESPITE ALL INTERVENTIONS
Balu pulled his vehicle onto the emergency lane to check it. Meanwhile, a car driven by Halil B., traveling in the same direction, struck Balu, who was on the emergency lane. Mustafa Balu was thrown onto the road by the force of the impact and injured. Upon notification, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. After initial intervention by the medical team, Balu was taken to Mehmet Akif İnan Training and Research Hospital. Despite all efforts by the doctors, Mustafa Balu could not be saved.
It was reported that Mustafa Balu played for Ceylanpınar Demirspor, which competes in the Super Amateur League. An investigation into the accident has been initiated.
