Yusuf Dikeç, who won an Olympic medal in the mixed team event of air pistol for Turkey and attracted attention with his shooting style, was awarded an honorary doctorate by Isparta Süleyman Demirel University.

Yusuf Dikeç, who won a silver medal in the air pistol category at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, stated in his speech at the ceremony held in the SDU Prof. Dr. Lütfü Çakmakçı Conference Hall that success always attracts attention worldwide.

Emphasizing that success is recognized everywhere in the world regardless of religion, language, or race, Dikeç said, "Young people should use their time well. Your job is not just being a student; time is very valuable. I hope that in the coming years, we will see a team from Süleyman Demirel University in international and national competitions," he said.

Pointing out that Naim Süleymanoğlu was a locomotive in weightlifting, Dikeç stated, "After Süreyya Ayhan, all our young girls wore their shorts and started athletics. Mete Gazoz made a name for himself in archery. I wholeheartedly believe that after this medal, shooting sports will also develop," he expressed.

Dikeç emphasized that the main duty of athletes is to bring medals to their country and continued his words as follows:

"Our second duty is to represent our country; when you go abroad, all eyes are always on you. With your sitting, standing, behaviors, and success, people are always observing you. I have been doing this sport for 24 years. I only received a medal in my fifth Olympics. When you are successful, young people and coaches around the world can accept you. They want to sit with you, have coffee with you, and do camps with you. No matter what, when you go abroad, do not forget that your country is behind you and that you are representing your country."

After the speeches, SDU Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Saltan presented the "honorary doctorate" certificate to national athlete Dikeç.
