Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a statement regarding the decision that emerged from the phone call between U.S. President Trump and Russian leader Putin. Zelensky said, "I support the cessation of attacks on energy infrastructure. However, talking about Ukraine without us is unproductive."
U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The historic meeting, which lasted 2.5 hours, resulted in a partial ceasefire decision. Putin accepted U.S. President Trump's proposal for Russia and Ukraine not to strike each other's energy infrastructure. After the meeting, Putin ordered the Russian army to "Do not strike."
ZELENSKY: I SUPPORT THE IDEA OF STOPPING ATTACKS ON ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE
Following the meeting between Putin and Trump, the first statement came from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In his statement, Zelensky said: "I hope to speak with Trump to learn the details of the Putin-Trump discussions. I support the idea of stopping attacks on energy infrastructure. I support all proposals that will lead to stability and lasting peace."
"TALKING ABOUT UKRAINE WITHOUT UKRAINE YIELDS NO RESULTS"
Talking about Ukraine without Ukraine yields no results. The release of all Ukrainian prisoners of war would be a way for Russia to show good faith in negotiations. Russia is preparing new attacks in the Zaporizhia, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions in the coming months to exert maximum pressure on Ukraine. An unconditional or partially unconditional ceasefire would be a positive outcome. Putin is trying to weaken Kiev by ensuring the cessation of military and intelligence assistance to Ukraine.
