The dead bodies of two women were recovered Monday from under the debris of homes destroyed one day earlier by suspected U.S. drone strikes in Yemen's central Al Bayda' province, a tribal source has said.
The two women were killed by a U.S. drone attack in the province's Al-Jerahi district, the source told Anadolu Agency.
Several bodies remain trapped under the rubble amid ongoing clashes between Shiite Houthi militants on one hand and Al-Qaeda militants and tribesmen on the other, the source said.
On Sunday, Houthis captured Al-Bayda's Manaseh area, a major Al-Qaeda stronghold, according to a tribal source.
U.S. and Yemeni warplanes launched several strikes against tribal sites in the area throughout Sunday, the source added.
Houthis and Al-Qaeda have been fighting over control of Al-Bayda' for several days.
The Shiite movement has been in control of Yemeni capital Sanaa since September 21 and is now moving to extend its control farther afield.
Yemen has been in turmoil since a popular uprising that erupted in 2011 ousted long-serving president Ali Abdullah Saleh one year later.
