STUCK TO VITAL ORGANS AND MAIN VESSELS
Önal, who was brought to the hospital in a wheelchair, was found to have a retroperitoneal tumor measuring 30x40 centimeters, which largely filled her abdominal cavity and was severely adhered to vital organs and main vessels, during detailed examinations. The tumor was successfully removed by Prof. Dr. Faik Tatlı, a faculty member of the Department of General Surgery and the head of the Organ Transplantation Center, and his team.
WEIGHED 15 KILOS AND 800 GRAMS
In a statement after the successful operation, Tatlı noted that the tumor surrounded a portion of the large intestine and the surrounding major vessels, saying, "We removed the entire mass intact without damaging vital structures.
