After the attempted attack by Israel on the Hamas delegation in Doha, retired Colonel Moshe Elad stated, "Turkey could be next," claiming that Ankara and Istanbul are at risk. Elad also argued that NATO would not unconditionally support Turkey in the event of a possible attack.
After the attempted attack on the Hamas delegation in Doha, the capital of Qatar, by Israel, retired Colonel Dr. Moshe Elad drew attention with his remarks targeting Turkey. Elad stated, "Turkey could be next," making a noteworthy assessment regarding NATO support.
"THERE IS A PERCEPTION THAT ISRAEL HAS NO RED LINES"
Israeli retired colonel Dr. Moshe Elad suggested that Turkey could also enter Israel's target list due to its reaction to Israel's aggressive stance, saying, "There is a perception that Israel has no red lines. In the past, it has carried out assassinations of members of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in the heart of Europe without caring about future reactions."
REMINDING OF AN INCIDENT FROM 50 YEARS AGO
Elad noted that Israel targeted Palestinians "by crossing red lines" nearly 50 years ago, stating, "They know very well that Mossad eliminated PLO members in the heart of Europe without considering political complications."
"IS TURKEY READY TO TAKE THE RISK?"
Targeting Turkey, Elad claimed that Qatar, which has suspended mediation activities until further notice, is not safe, saying, "The Doha administration thought they were under the protection of the U.S. and that they would not be touched through their mediation role with Hamas, but that belief has collapsed. If they turn to Ankara, is Turkey ready to take the risk of an Israeli attack in the heart of Istanbul or Ankara?"
"NATO WILL NOT SUPPORT UNCONDITIONALLY" CLAIM
Elad claimed that NATO would not support Turkey in a possible Israeli attack, stating, "Turkey believes that NATO membership provides them with immunity. However, NATO is not an organization that acts by consensus. Decisions are rarely made unanimously. It is not guaranteed that NATO will support Turkey unconditionally."
