A Russian tourist who forgot his smart watch while taking photos on the beach in Antalya reported the incident to the police after two children informed him that someone else had taken the watch. The tourist, using GPRS on his mobile phone, pinpointed the location and conducted a raid with the police teams at the address. The tourist said, "Thank you, Turkish police," while the person who took the watch stated, "I left because I thought I would give the watch to other kids."

An interesting incident occurred yesterday afternoon on Antalya's Konyaaltı Beach. Russian tourist Lilie Belova (38), who came to Antalya from Moscow for a tennis competition, took off her smartwatch to take photos on the beach and left it where she was sitting. After a while, Belova, who left the beach, realized she had forgotten her watch and returned to the beach. At that moment, two children who found the watch said that an unidentified person told them he would give the watch to security and took it from them.

THEY DETERMINED THE ADDRESS FROM THE GPRS SIGNAL

Upon this, Belova opened the application on her mobile phone and, seeing that the watch was moving from the GPRS signal, notified the police. Shortly after, teams dispatched to the scene were able to communicate with the Russian tourist, who spoke little Turkish and English, through translation on her mobile phone.

A RAID WAS CONDUCTED AT THE ADDRESS

Belova, who showed that the watch was stationary on 298th Street in Soğuksu Neighborhood, went to the address indicated by the location with the police. After a brief search, B.A. (63), who claimed to have taken the watch, was taken into the police vehicle by the police teams.

"THE CHILDREN SAW THAT HE TOOK THE WATCH"

Belova, who was happy to regain her watch, said, 'Thank you to the Turkish police.' In a statement to reporters, again through translation, she explained the incident as follows: "I was taking photos by the rocks on the beach. I put the watch on the ground to get a nice shot. The children were watching me and complimenting me. They saw the man take the watch. They wanted to stop him, but he brushed them off and ran away."

"I LEFT THERE THINKING I WOULD GIVE IT TO OTHER CHILDREN"

B.A., who took the watch, claimed that he did not take it for theft, saying, "I was going to swim near the rocks. The children said it was mine, and I left there thinking I would give it to other children instead of giving it to them." B.A. was taken to the police station for his statement.
