Seyitoğlu, who said, "In terms of location, it is closer to Ankara. We have three main fault lines here," stated, "All of them converge around Ankara. One of them is the Eskişehir fault zone, one is the Tuz Gölü zone, and the other is the Kırıkkale Erbağ fault zone. These three faults interact with each other."
"NEITHER KONYA NOR ANKARA ARE SAFE PLACES"
Contrary to what is said, Seyitoğlu pointed out that Konya and Ankara are not reliable in terms of earthquakes, stating, "The earthquake that occurred is very close to the Tuz Gölü fault. The surprising development for us is that there is a scientific discussion about the character of Tuz Gölü. Is it a strike-slip fault or a normal fault? This earthquake showed that it has the character of a normal fault.
We are not in a very safe place in Ankara or Konya. There are faults around us. Therefore, we must construct our buildings in both Ankara and Konya to be earthquake-resistant. Especially in Ankara, there are areas where urban transformation needs to be carried out," he expressed.

Seyitoğlu also mentioned that the Tuz Gölü fault could produce an earthquake around 7. "It has been occurring in Konya for a long time, but our awareness has increased," said Seyitoğlu, "When we look at the potential, the Tuz Gölü fault has the character to produce an earthquake around 7. However, the recurrence interval of earthquakes is expressed in thousands of years. Therefore, there hasn't been a major earthquake in the near past. But we cannot say anything about the timing."
