A fire broke out at a gas station in Esenyurt when an electric vehicle connected to a charger suddenly ignited and exploded. Panic ensued during the incident, while fire crews intervened to control the blaze.
EXPLOSION OCCURRED WHILE ELECTRIC VEHICLE WAS CHARGING
The incident took place around 10:00 PM at a gas station on the E-5 side road towards Büyükçekmece in the Saadetdere neighborhood of Esenyurt. According to the information obtained, the electric vehicle, which was plugged in for charging, caught fire and exploded for an unknown reason.
PANIC AT THE GAS STATION CAUGHT ON CAMERA
Following the explosion, there was a brief moment of panic at the station, and fire and police teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification. Fire crews intervened and brought the fire under control. The vehicle was completely burned and rendered unusable. An investigation has been initiated regarding the incident. Meanwhile, the moments when the vehicle was engulfed in flames were captured by mobile phone cameras.
A citizen named Oğuzhan Yıldız stated, "I work in the adjacent building. I finished work, took a step outside, and there was a loud explosion. We got worried. I saw a big flame. Since it was a gas station, we were concerned, wondering if something happened at the gas station. The car seems to have exploded on its own; the fire department arrived quickly and extinguished it. It was an electric car; I think there was a problem with the battery," he said.
