A message of peace has come from Iran, which is under the threat of a U.S. attack, to President Donald Trump. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that they support a fair agreement that guarantees Tehran will not possess nuclear weapons, saying, "Trump said there should be no nuclear weapons, and we completely agree with him. It is only possible to reach an agreement in the nuclear field." Araghchi, who stated that war is preventable, also gave the green light to U.S. companies' activities in Iran.
The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi published an interview he had with CNN on his official Telegram account.
"WE ARE COMPLETELY ON THE SAME PAGE AS TRUMP, AN AGREEMENT IN THE NUCLEAR FIELD IS POSSIBLE" Stating that they are trying to find a way to restart negotiations with the US along with regional countries, Araghchi noted: "President Trump said there should be no nuclear weapons, and we completely agree with him. It is only possible to reach an agreement in the nuclear field. We can negotiate about our nuclear program to ensure that it is entirely peaceful. In return, we expect the lifting of sanctions. However, we need trust. A minimum level of trust is absolutely necessary."
Abbas Araghchi "WE HAVE LOST OUR TRUST IN THE US" Araghchi also stated that he is ready to discuss all details if Iran continues its uranium enrichment activities for peaceful purposes. Emphasizing that his country has a trust issue due to the nuclear agreement signed with the US, China, Russia, the UK, France, and Germany in 2015, from which the US withdrew in 2018, Araghchi said, "The US withdrew from the agreement without providing justification. Last year, we were attacked at a time when we decided to negotiate. Therefore, we lost our trust in the US."
"WAR IS NOT INEVITABLE AND CAN BE PREVENTED" Araghchi also made evaluations regarding the recent increase in military tensions between Iran and the US. He stated that they have no concerns due to their preparedness for war, saying, "In my opinion, war is not inevitable and can be prevented. The best way to prevent war is to be prepared for it. Being prepared for war does not mean we want to fight; on the contrary, it means we are avoiding war. My biggest concern is military operations based on misinformation and miscalculations in this regard."
"IF WE GO TO WAR WITH THE US, IT IS A FACT THAT THE CONFLICT WILL SPREAD TO LARGER AREAS" Araghchi also stated that "different elements" are trying to drag the US into war, but President Trump is "smart enough to make the right decision." Emphasizing that any potential war between Iran and the US would negatively affect the entire region, Araghchi warned, "In the war with Israel, we made efforts to prevent the conflict from expanding. However, if we go to war with the US, considering the US bases in the region, it is also a fact that the conflict will spread to larger areas."
ACTIVITIES OF US COMPANIES IN IRAN Araghchi stated that if a possible agreement between Iran and the US is reached, the regional economy will also revive, saying: "From our perspective, there is no problem regarding US companies operating in various fields in Iran. The party causing problems in this regard is the US because they do not allow their companies to work in Iran."
