U.S. President Donald Trump announced that talks have begun regarding the regulation of oil supply with Cuban leaders.
Trump answered reporters' questions about the South American region while heading to Florida at night. Using the phrase, "We are starting to talk to Cuba," Trump did not respond to questions about the level of contact he has had regarding the regulation of oil entry and exit to the island nation or when such contact was made.
WILL MEET WITH THE COUNTRY HE THREATENED
Trump stated, "There doesn't necessarily have to be a humanitarian crisis. They will probably come to us wanting to make a deal. This way, Cuba will be free again."
Noting that he thinks they can make some kind of agreement with Cuba, Trump said, "I think, you know, we will be nice."
Trump's statement regarding Cuba came after attempts to cut off oil supplies from Venezuela and Mexico in recent weeks.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
On January 30, Trump signed an order to impose customs duties on all goods coming from countries that sell or provide oil to Cuba.
