The Deputy Mayor of Beykoz, Özlem Vural Gürzel, who was elected to replace the suspended Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler, who was arrested as part of an investigation initiated by the Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for "manipulating a tender" and "establishing, membership, and aiding an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," announced her resignation from the CHP.

The unfounded accusations, slanders, and pressures that have escalated to psychological violence directed at me have exceeded my tolerance limit. I will never forget that when I explained my situation to my party officials during this period, my interlocutors did not defend me, did not empathize, did not understand, and even left me completely alone.
"ONLY SUPPORTED BY THE AK PARTY AND MHP" I unfortunately did not witness any attempts for a solution within the party, apart from the suggestions to continue my deputyship by yielding to the threats and pressures I was subjected to. Nevertheless, I want it to be known that I was supported and valued only by the members of the Justice and Development Party, the Nationalist Movement Party, and most importantly, the people of Beykoz.

Finally, despite all this, during the hearing held at the Anadolu Courthouse 17th Heavy Criminal Court, my situation has become unbearable due to the heavy slanders and false accusations directed at me, despite having no connection to the prosecution by the elected mayor of Beykoz and his chief of staff. Under these circumstances, I respectfully announce to the public that I resign from the Republican People's Party, as I will not be able to provide beneficial services to the people of Beykoz under the roof of the CHP."
