The 82-year-old specialist's husband, Dr. Ali Başak Karatay, passed away at the age of 78. It was announced that Dr. Ali Başak Karatay will be buried in the family cemetery at Nakkaştepe after the noon prayer to be held at Moda Mosque on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

Ali Başak Karatay was born in 1947 in Istanbul. He graduated from Syracuse, a private research university located in New York, USA, and was among the founders of the Philosophy Department at Boğaziçi University. Ali Başak Karatay was last working as a faculty member in the Philosophy Department at Istanbul Science University.
