Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and DEM Party Istanbul Member of Parliament Sırrı Süreyya Önder passed away on May 3rd at the hospital where he was being treated after a challenging 12-hour surgery due to heart problems. The General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Bekir Bozdağ. A memorial ceremony was held for Sırrı Süreyya Önder in the General Assembly, and a condolence program was organized in the Assembly's Ceremony Hall.
DERVİŞOĞLU DID NOT ATTEND THE CEREMONY
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli came to the Parliament for the first time after three months following his heart condition. Bahçeli attended the memorial held for Önder and chatted with Önder's brother, TBMM President Numan Kurtulmuş, DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan, and DEM Party member Pervin Buldan. During the memorial ceremony held in the TBMM, Bahçeli lovingly touched a photo of Sırrı Süreyya Önder.
Just a few minutes after Bahçeli left the ceremony, Dervişoğlu exited through the opposite door of the hall where the ceremony was held and got into his official vehicle. Dervişoğlu did not attend the ceremony.
