After the publication of the commission report on the process of a terrorism-free Turkey, the first objection came from BBP Chairman Mustafa Destici. Destici stated, "The crimes committed by the PKK can never be ignored. Those who give the orders for these crimes or those who carry them out, meaning those who pull the trigger and detonate the bomb, can never be forgiven and cannot be granted the right to hope. The fundamental characteristics of the state, which guarantees unity and integrity as stated in the Turkish constitution, can never be compromised."
BBP leader Mustafa Destici spoke at a press conference held at the party's headquarters. Destici made statements regarding the commission report prepared about the Terror-Free Turkey process.
FIRST COMMENT FROM DESTICI ON THE COMMISSION REPORT
Destici said: "As you know, the report of the commission in the parliament has been partially announced as of today, following intense discussions and the stages it has gone through regarding the new solution process or the Terror-Free Turkey process that started in October 2024. The report prepared today by the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission has been partially shared with the public through our parliament speaker, instead of the Terror-Free Turkey due to the objections of the terrorist organization.
"PKK DID NOT LAY DOWN ARMS, ITS EXTENSIONS IN TURKEY HAVE NOT DISSOLVED"
We have been saying the same things since the first day on this issue. We have maintained our principled stance. No one with a sound mind would object to the unconditional and non-negotiable laying down of arms by a terrorist organization. The question we face is whether this is really the case? Has the PKK completely laid down its arms? Has it dissolved itself with all its elements? This is the question that needs to be answered. And what we all see is that the PKK has not laid down its arms. PJAK has not laid down its arms. The PKK, PYD, YPG, and SDG have not laid down their arms. Primarily, PJAK, Kandil, and their extensions in Europe have not dissolved themselves. The extensions in Turkey have not dissolved themselves.
"SHOWY CONGRESS DECISION"
The fact that none of the extensions and subsidiaries of the PKK have dissolved themselves, meaning that in this process there is a showy congress decision and a theatrical act of laying down arms where 5-10 rifles are thrown into a cauldron and burned, along with the attacks of the PKK's Syrian branch, especially in Aleppo, against civilians and the statements from the leaders of different units of the PKK that the struggle has only changed form, the repeated territorial claims from different mouths of the PKK's various units towards Turkey, and most importantly, the PKK's dirty record compel us to remain vigilant and cautious.
"PKK IS ALIVE, CONTINUING TO EXIST AS A LIVING ENTITY"
The PKK continues to exist as a living, armed, and political structure. It also continues its political existence in Turkey with a party called DEM."
"PKK AND DEM ARE NOT REPRESENTATIVES OF KURDS"
Destici continued his remarks: "Since the first day the discussions began, we have maintained our stance. Our position and what we say have not changed at all since the previous solution process, from the day our party was founded, and even since the first day Turkey was subjected to terrorist acts. The PKK is never the representative of our Kurdish brothers. There are currently Kurdish brothers in this hall. The narrative and acceptance that the terrorist organization and its political extension DEM are the representatives of the Kurds is not only a reality but also a great injustice to our Kurdish brothers, who are an essential component of our nation.
"THE RIGHT TO HOPE CANNOT BE GRANTED"
First of all, the crimes committed by the PKK can never be ignored. Those who give the orders for these crimes or those who directly commit these crimes, that is, those who pull the trigger, those who detonate the bomb, can never be forgiven and the right to hope cannot be granted. The fundamental characteristics of the state, which guarantees the unity and integrity found in the Turkish constitution, can never be compromised. We will never give up our language, our identity, the name of our state, and the common name of our nation. In other words, we will never give up our Turkish language, our star and crescent flag, and our Turkish identity.
"THE FUNDAMENTAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE STATE CAN NEVER BE COMPROMISED"
We do not accept anything alongside these. Therefore, the fundamental characteristics of the state, which guarantees the unity and integrity found in the Turkish constitution, can never be compromised. We do not accept any form or justification that would humiliate the victims of terrorism, the families of our martyrs, and our veterans, as well as our security forces, our village guards, and our citizens living in regions targeted by terrorism, who are law-abiding and respectful to their state and nation, including our Kurdish brothers.
"SITTING AT THE TABLE WITH THE LEADER OF A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION IS HARMFUL"
We also see that sitting at the table with the leader of a terrorist organization and its extensions, independent of what Turkey has experienced and its realities, opens a door of legitimacy to terrorism and the terrorist organization, which uses global imperialism as a tool of war, causing significant harm to international law, human rights, and world peace."
After the press conference, the new provincial heads in 3 provinces were announced. Mustafa Batmaz was appointed as the Provincial Head of Nevşehir. Selim Şimşek was appointed to replace Gökhan Ilgar, who was serving as the Provincial Head of Istanbul.
