INVESTIGATION AFTER HIS WORDS ON YOUTUBE
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had initiated an investigation against Canikligil for "publicly inciting to commit a crime" and "publicly inciting hatred and hostility" due to his statements in a video published on YouTube. In this context, Canikligil, who was detained, was referred to the duty magistrate court with a request for his arrest on charges of "publicly inciting to commit a crime" and "publicly inciting hatred and hostility."
The prosecutor's referral letter included the 2 minutes and 34 seconds long video content published by Canikligil on the X social media platform and his post on his own social media account. The letter stated that the suspect's social media post "targeted a part of society by belittling voters participating in political elections and those holding certain opinions," and it was claimed that he incited the commission of a crime by stating that a massacre should be carried out against these groups.
HE WAS ARRESTED ON MARCH 26
