STATEMENT FROM YILMAZ TUNÇ
Following the chilling murder, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç made a statement on his social media account. Tunç stated, "The brutal murder of a woman by her husband in the process of divorce in the Milas district of Muğla has opened a deep wound in all our consciences," and added, "This murder is a despicable attack on a woman's, a mother's right to life, and a crime against humanity. There is no excuse for violence against women. No justification, no excuse, no words can lessen or normalize this brutality."
"NO ESCAPE FROM THE CLAWS OF JUSTICE"
In his statement, Minister Tunç also said: "Whoever raises a hand against a woman, threatens, applies violence, or attempts to take her life, regardless of the justification they present; they will be held accountable in the harshest way before the law and will not escape the claws of justice.
In relation to this heinous incident that has plunged us all into deep sorrow, the individual has been captured and arrested as part of the investigation initiated by our Milas Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. There is absolutely no place in our legal system for this dark mentality that leaves children without a mother.
"THERE IS NO ESCAPE FOR THE PERPETRATOR"
With the regulations we have made, the penalty for the crime of intentional murder against women has been increased to life imprisonment without parole, and violence against women is grounds for arrest. The individual who committed this brutality will face the harshest penalties before the judiciary. There is no escape for the perpetrator.
I pray for God's mercy on our deceased sister. Let there be no doubt! Our State stands against all forms of violence against women; there is Justice."
