Nineteen-year-old Mevlüt Ozan Atlar disappeared 15 years ago in Karaman. During searches at the farm of Kadir Sarıkavak, who was arrested last year on the charge of murdering Atlar, 23 bones were found buried under concrete.
Mevlüt Ozan Atlar, who lived in Karaman, went missing in January 2011. His mother, Ayşe Atlar, filed a missing person report at that time, but no trace of Mevlüt Ozan was found. In 2023, the prosecutor's office reopened the investigation file and found that Atlar had gone to see Kadir Sarıkavak, the owner of the farm where he worked to collect his debts, and that there was a feud between Atlar and Sarıkavak due to a debt issue, with Sarıkavak having previously assaulted Atlar.
DID KADIR SARIKAVAK DISPOSE OF THE BODY? Based on this information, Kadir Sarıkavak, who was detained last February, was arrested, and a case was opened against him for 'intentional murder' with a request for life imprisonment. Although the indictment stated that Mevlüt Ozan Atlar's body had not been found, it was assessed that he might have been killed by Sarıkavak and that his body had been disposed of.
Mevlüt Ozan Atlar BONES ERUPTED FROM THE BARN According to a report in Sabah, a detailed investigation was conducted at the farm owned by Kadir Sarıkavak in the Yeşildere area as part of the meticulously conducted investigation by the prosecutor's office. During the excavation in the concrete part of the barn, 23 bones and a piece of carpet were found under the concrete.
OTHERS HAVE ALSO BEEN MURDERED DNA profiles compatible with a male were found on two of the bones. However, the DNA samples taken from Mevlüt Ozan's family did not match the traces on the bones. The Forensic Medicine Institution's work on the bones is ongoing.
The indictment mentioned that Atlar had worked at the farm belonging to suspects Mustafa M. and Bünyamin M., who are linked to the disappearance of Bekir Özkay and Nermin Erkara, who have been missing since 2011, and that he might have heard conversations about Bekir Özkay and Nermin Erkara, which could be a reason for his murder. It will be investigated whether the bones found in the farmhouse belong to Bekir Özkay.
