FORCE MEDICINE'S DECISION ON 'MEHMET MURAT ÇALIK'

In the report prepared by ATK regarding Çalık, it was stated that the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requested a report on whether he could stay in prison conditions. It was noted that Çalık was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML-M4) at Marmara University Hospital in December 1999 and underwent 4 cycles of chemotherapy treatment between January and June 2000. It was recorded that on April 17, 2002, the Turkish Armed Forces assessed him as "unfit for military service."

Çalık, who underwent surgery for a tumor (mucoepidermoid carcinoma) in his right salivary gland at Marmara University Hospital in January 2008, was reported to have no signs of recurrence (relapse) or metastasis (spread) according to the latest evaluation by the Medical Oncology Clinic of İzmir City Hospital.

In the report prepared by the health board of Beylikdüzü State Hospital on April 25, 2023, it was stated that "there is no health-related obstacle to obtaining a gun possession or carrying license" regarding Çalık.

In the hospitalization-discharge documents of Çalık from the Hematology Clinic of İzmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital between June 23 and July 8, 2025, it was noted that "the blast count was around 4-5%, no atypical (abnormal) cells were observed in the bone marrow imprint evaluation, the blast ratio was 1-2% in the flow cytometry examination, the biopsy taken from his neck on July 4 was concluded as traumatic neuroma (benign), and the polyps detected in the stomach during the endoscopic biopsy were benign."

"CIRCULATORY SYSTEM, ABDOMEN, AND RESPIRATORY SYSTEM EXAMINATION NORMAL"

The report dated July 14, 2025, from İzmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital was also included in the report. According to this report, it was noted that "the patient's EKG was normal, blood values (troponin) were within normal limits, he was admitted to coronary intensive care, and during follow-ups, chest pain did not recur, and no arrhythmia was observed." It was stated that with the current findings, it was decided that there was no need for Çalık to be hospitalized in the Cardiology Clinic.

In the board examination conducted on July 16, 2025, it was recorded that Çalık had complaints of recent weight loss and loss of appetite, that his sleep and appetite were not very good, and that he walked for 15-20 minutes. The report noted that his general condition was good, he was conscious, oriented, and cooperative, could mobilize without support, and had full range of motion in all four extremities. The report also stated that Çalık's muscle strength was intact, he could climb stairs, his blood pressure was 140/70, and his pulse and temperature were normal, with no signs of bruising, jaundice, or shortness of breath, and no findings of rapid weight loss, and that the examination of the circulatory system, abdomen, and respiratory system was normal, and no active psychopathology was detected in his psychiatric examination.

The board stated that "when considering the bone marrow aspiration, flow cytometry, and bone marrow biopsy together, the blast ratio was assessed as 3-4%, but due to the biopsy passing through cortical and subcortical areas, its pathological evaluation was suboptimal (not sufficient for diagnosis), and given the weight loss and the existing pathological data, it should be re-evaluated by a center experienced in hematology, medical oncology, and hematopathology."

NO SIGNS OF ACTIVE DISEASE (LEUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA) IN BONE MARROW BIOPSY

In the report dated July 16, 2025, from the relevant Specialization Board, it was stated that Çalık's admission to a fully equipped training and research hospital or university hospital should be ensured for necessary examinations and treatments, and that he would be re-evaluated after sending a health board report showing his current status, including expert opinions, and the requested examinations.

The report stated that on August 4, Çalık's body weight was 85 kilograms, and his body mass index was 25.5, indicating that he had gained weight and his general health status was good.

NO MENTAL ILLNESS DETECTED

The report stated, "According to the existing medical documents and examinations in Mehmet Murat Çalık's file, as well as the examination findings, there is currently no condition that would prevent him from staying in prison from a health perspective, provided that his treatment and regular outpatient controls at recommended intervals are ensured."
