Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir was arrested by the duty judge on charges of "facilitating bribery" and "receiving bribes" as part of investigations into financial and terrorism-related offenses.
Rezan Epözdemir, a lawyer who was referred to the courthouse as part of two separate investigations conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was arrested by the court for the crimes of 'facilitating bribery' and 'receiving bribes.'
GAVE A 6-PAGE STATEMENT As part of two separate investigations conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, lawyer Rezan Epözdemir, who was detained on charges of 'giving bribes', 'political-military espionage', and 'aiding FETÖ/PDY', was referred to the courthouse after a health check. Epözdemir, whose statement was taken in the 'bribery' investigation at the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, provided a 6-page statement.
REFERRED WITH A REQUEST FOR ARREST IN THE 'BRIBERY' INVESTIGATION Epözdemir was referred to the Duty Magistrate's Court with a request for arrest in the 'bribery' investigation by the prosecutor's office. K.Y., who was detained in the same investigation and served as the secretary of prosecutor C.Ç. during the years when the events in question occurred, was released based on his statement regarding effective remorse and confession.
REFERRED WITH A REQUEST FOR JUDICIAL CONTROL Rezan Epözdemir, whose statement was taken as part of a 'terror' investigation by the prosecutor's office, was referred to the Duty Magistrate's Court with a request for 'judicial control' in the form of a travel ban abroad for the crimes of 'aiding the FETÖ/PDY terrorist organization' and 'political and military espionage.'
ARRESTED Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir was arrested by the court for the crime of 'facilitating bribery.' STATEMENT IN THE TERROR INVESTIGATION REVEALED As part of the investigations conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, he was detained on charges of 'giving bribes', 'political-military espionage', and 'aiding FETÖ/PDY'. The statement given to the prosecutor's office by Epözdemir in the 'terror' investigation, to which he was referred to the courthouse, has emerged.
"I ATTENDED AT THE REQUEST OF CHP'S GÜRSEL TEKİN" Responding to a question about a photo in which he was seen with a Mossad and CIA agent, Epözdemir said, "I don't remember exactly, but we stayed for a very short time according to them. In fact, it can be seen in the photo that my plate is empty. Although I don't remember exactly, as I mentioned before, we sat for about half an hour, 45 minutes, maybe 1 hour, and then we got up. I am sure we got up early. I had to attend at the request of Gürsel Tekin, in his capacity as the Secretary General of the CHP. I didn't hear what was discussed at the table; everything was talked about far from me," he said.
"I SAW MY FRIEND AFTER WE GOT UP FROM THE TABLE" In response to Epözdemir's answer, the prosecutor's office showed the HTS records, stating that it was determined that he stayed longer than he claimed at the venue. Epözdemir replied to this question, "After I got up from the table at the time I mentioned, I saw my colleague, whom I also see as my brother, F.E.Y., was also there. I remember going to their table. Therefore, I may have provided a basis until that time," he said.
WHO IS REZAN EPÖZDEMİR? Rezan Epözdemir was born on November 24, 1984, in the Fatih district of Istanbul. He graduated second in his class from Marmara University Faculty of Law. He completed his master's degree at Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences in the field of private law. Subsequently, he successfully completed his doctoral thesis titled "Postponement of the Announcement of the Judgment" in the field of Public Law at Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences, earning a high honor degree as a Doctor of Law.
He has published three books titled "Party Capacity", "Postponement of the Announcement of the Judgment", and "Unjust Provocation", as well as dozens of scientific articles in newspapers and magazines. In 2007, he founded the Analysis Law Office. He represented the families of Münevver Karabulut and Pınar Gültekin.
He became a member of Galatasaray Sports Club with the registration number 16158. He was on Burak Elmas's list in the 2021 Galatasaray SK presidential election. After Elmas won the election, he became the Vice President of Galatasaray SK. On August 2, 2021, he also became the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş.
