In Bursa, 17-year-old Ömer S. took his sister hostage with a knife. When the police teams did not receive a response during their negotiation efforts, they broke down the door with a battering ram and entered. Upon seeing the police, the suspect locked himself in the bathroom. While the young girl was rescued, the suspect surrendered as a result of the negotiations and was taken into custody.
A film-like incident occurred around 1:30 PM in the TOKİ housing located on Defne Street in the Baykoca neighborhood of İnegöl district in Bursa. Ömer S. (17), a Syrian national living on the 4th floor of the 8-story apartment and reportedly suffering from psychological issues, took his sister Lakat S. (19) hostage with a knife.
POLICE BROKE DOWN THE DOOR WITH A BATTERING RAM
Upon hearing sounds coming from the apartment, the residents alerted the police and medical teams to the address. The police worked for a long time to convince Ömer S., who had locked the door. After Ömer S. gave a negative response, the apartment door was broken down with a battering ram.
SISTER RESCUED
As the teams entered the apartment, Ömer S. locked himself in the bathroom, while his sister Lakat S. was rescued and taken outside. Surrounding people tried to calm the crying Lakat S.
SUSPECT IN CUSTODY
Ömer S., who was convinced by the police teams, opened the bathroom door and surrendered the knife he was holding. The suspect was taken into custody. An investigation has been launched regarding the incident.
