The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul started the day at a record level due to the increasing risk appetite in global markets; the index, which rose by 0.57% at the opening to reach 12,924.20 points, exceeded 13,000 points during the day, reaching an all-time high.

In the later hours of the day, the BIST 100, which surpassed 13,000 points, reached its historical peak.

NEW PEAK AFTER RECORD CLOSURE

Yesterday, the BIST 100 index, which followed a buying trend, completed the day with a gain of 0.97%, finishing at 12,851.49 points, achieving the highest closing in history. The index, which continued its upward momentum in today's opening, tested record levels.

SECTOR AND INDEX PERFORMANCES

At the opening, the banking index gained 0.49%, while the holding index increased by 0.10%. Among sector indices, the mining sector was the biggest gainer with a 1.15% increase, while the sector that lost the most was the securities investment trust, which fell by 0.60%.

IMPACT OF GLOBAL MARKETS

The relatively reduced geopolitical tensions in global markets and macroeconomic data indicating that the U.S. economy is maintaining its strength supported risk appetite. The growth data in the U.S. exceeding expectations also somewhat alleviated concerns about the labor market. This outlook contributed to the widespread buying in the BIST 100 index, leading to the observation of record levels.

EYES ON CREDIT RATING ASSESSMENTS

Analysts stated that today, the evaluations of Turkey by international credit rating agencies Fitch Ratings and Moody's will be closely monitored. It was expressed that the financial services confidence index and financial accounts report domestically, and manufacturing and services sector PMI data abroad will be the focus of the markets. Technically, the resistance levels in the BIST 100 index are at 13,000 and 13,100 points, while the support levels are at 12,700 and 12,600 points.
