In an operation against the terrorist organization ISIS in Istanbul, 46 out of 60 people captured were arrested.
In Istanbul, 46 of the 60 suspects captured in an operation against the terrorist organization ISIS were arrested.
In the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Terror and Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau, a cell that was conducting activities for the organization and providing funding to ISIS was identified.
Teams from the Istanbul Counter-Terrorism (TEM) Branch, acting upon the instructions of the prosecutor's office, had identified individuals operating under the control of Z.P., who was appointed as the so-called "Istanbul provincial emir" of the organization. It was determined that Z.P. organized illegal meetings, and among those attending these illegal meetings were individuals conducting military and ideological training activities in Georgia and African countries. Additionally, it was found that they collected money under the guise of "aid" and provided financial assistance to ISIS members in camps in conflict zones. In an operation conducted at 68 addresses across the province, 60 suspects were taken into custody.
46 PEOPLE ARRESTED
The interrogations of the suspects at the Istanbul Police Department's TEM Branch have been completed. One of the suspects was released from the police station after completing the statement procedures upon the prosecutor's instructions. The other individuals were transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan after undergoing a health check. Among the suspects who gave statements to the prosecutor, 13 were released under "judicial control conditions." A total of 46 ISIS members, including suspects involved in military and ideological training activities in Georgia and African countries, were arrested and sent to prison.
