The final concordat period for Gürsüt, based in İzmir, and its affiliated companies has been extended by 6 months from January 31, 2026. Uncertainty regarding the financial future of the milk and cheese brand sold in almost every supermarket across Turkey continues.
The İzmir 1st Commercial Court extended the previously granted concordat definitive period for Gürsüt Livestock Food Industry and Trade Inc., Gürtepe Agriculture and Livestock Inc., Progıda Dairy Products and Marketing Inc., and company owner Kosat Gürler for an additional 6 months. Under the decision, the concordat process will continue effective from January 31, 2026.
MEASURES AND COMMISSIONERS REMAIN IN OFFICE
The court ruled that all precautionary measures previously implemented under the concordat will remain valid during the extension period. It was decided that the concordat commissioners will continue their duties in the same manner. This decision was announced in accordance with the relevant article of the Enforcement and Bankruptcy Law.
FINANCIAL TROUBLES TRIGGERED THE PROCESS
Gürsüt, one of Turkey's leading milk and dairy product producers, faced payment difficulties due to high inflation, rising input costs, and an increasing debt burden. Following this situation, the company requested a concordat, and the process has been ongoing for approximately 14 months.
ITS POSITION IN THE SECTOR IS STRIKING
Operating in a production area of approximately 10,000 square meters, Gürsüt has a wide distribution network in both retail and HORECA channels with cheese and dairy products. The company's owner, Kosat Gürler, also serves as a member of the Aegean Region Chamber of Industry Assembly and as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tire Organized Industrial Zone.
ALL EYES ON THE NEXT 6 MONTHS IN THE PROCESS
With the court's extension decision, Gürsüt's financial restructuring process will continue. Whether the company can exit the concordat will become clear in the upcoming 6-month period.
