In the morning hours in Bağcılar, Istanbul, the lifeless bodies of three people were found in an apartment. It was determined that one of the deceased was a 7-year-old child, and heartbreaking details emerged one by one. It is suspected that the cause of the tragedy was gas leaking from a luxury lamp. The grieving child who lost their family stated, "They had to use the luxury of lighting when there was no electricity for a long time."
Three members of the same family died from carbon monoxide poisoning in a house in the Bağcılar district of Istanbul. It is believed that the poisoning originated from a gas-powered lighting device connected to a cylinder. One person is in intensive care.
IT IS THOUGHT TO HAVE ORIGINATED FROM A LUXURY LAMP
Relatives of the Malay family, who had not heard from them during the night in Demirkapı Neighborhood, 1723 Street, reported to the police and fire department. When the teams arrived at the scene and entered the apartment from the balcony, they noticed a strong smell of gas. Abdülaziz Malay (70), his wife Fatma Jabara (43), their daughter Zehra Malay (7), and Gülbahar Malay (37) were found motionless on the floor. In the initial examination by the health teams, it was determined that Abdülaziz Malay, Fatma Jabara, and Zehra Malay had died, while Gülbahar Malay, who was reported to be disabled, was taken to the hospital in serious condition. The incident is assessed to have been caused by gas leaking from a luxury lamp, and police teams have launched an investigation into the matter. The family's son and a neighbor recounted the moments of the incident.
"HE WAS ACTING AS A MUEZZIN"
Neighbor Hasan Sipahi said, "The children were knocking on the door, but no one was opening. Then the fire department and police came and tried to open the door with a locksmith. When the locksmith couldn't open it, they entered through the back street with a fire ladder. When they got inside, there was a smell of gas. The three were lying down in a state of unconsciousness. It must have happened inside the apartment. The cylinder was open, it could be from that or it could be from natural gas. The electricity was cut off. It is famous here that the electricity goes out constantly. I looked around the street, everywhere was lit except for our apartments. Last night, BEDAŞ came and said it had nothing to do with us. He was my neighbor for 30 years in the same building. He was not a burden to the neighborhood; he was helpful. He was acting as a muezzin," he said.

Son, Nimetullah Malay, said, "We hadn't heard anything for about 20 hours. When they didn't go to the mosque, the congregation notified us. Last night between 11 and 12, when I called the fire department and police, we entered together. When we got inside, my father, mother, and little girl, who was seven years old, had passed away. My other sister was also in a daze. She is currently in intensive care. No information has come regarding the report yet. The fire department said it could be due to natural gas or the small cylinder. When there is no electricity for a long time, they use the cylinder as a candle. This is a lighting cylinder. There was no food on the stove. The natural gas was not on. The lighting cylinder was still burning when the fire department entered. When there is no electricity for a long time, they had to use the luxury lighting,"
