Bahçeli also listed his suggestions in 7 points.

The Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), Devlet Bahçeli, issued a written statement on the occasion of May 19, Atatürk Memorial, Youth and Sports Day.

CALL FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A 'TERROR-FREE TURKEY' COMMISSION IN THE PARLIAMENT

Bahçeli, who pointed to the Parliament regarding the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process, listed his suggestions in 7 articles, stating, "It is the most reasonable option to establish a commission in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), which is the embodiment of national will, with the participation of political parties representing all segments of society, along with constitutional duties, powers, and responsibilities, to determine the roadmap of the period. Our sincere proposal and wish is to establish the 'New Century's Terror-Free Turkey Strategy; National Unity and Solidarity Commission' upon the call of the TBMM President, in accordance with traditions."

Bahçeli's statement is as follows:

"If looked at correctly, if read and understood carefully, the historical experiences that seep from the recesses of the life and events lived will illuminate the dark points of the future like a lighthouse.

Of course, time flows not backward but forward.

However, the prerequisite for mastering and being aware of the secret of the future and progress is to comprehend in every aspect the arduous, intricate, and painful paths that have been left behind step by step.

Societies that have succeeded in becoming a nation have not only contented themselves with surviving during the stormy periods of history but have also managed to bring forth the gems of reason, morality, courage, and nobility in cooperation during tough and violent struggle processes.

There is no doubt that nation-building is the highest level of civilized humanity.

The communal society proposition of those who are unaware of this high democratic and developed human level is nothing but a stale suggestion of imperialism, a trivial admonition.

By being at this center, the Turkish nation will never fall behind in history, and it cannot be defined, restricted, or differentiated as a forced alliance of ethnic remnants or a fragmented societal structure divided into tribes.

Discussing and keeping on the agenda social system proposals outside of the state and nation is nothing but the last threshold of absurdity and irrationality.

Our Turkey has opened the thick curtain of a terror-free future through the power of governance and will, has taken a position to break the narrowing circle of enmity, and has completely transitioned to a phase that is against and closed to the disruptive influences of national unity and solidarity, with the participation and support of all segments.

A sensitive, delicate, fragile, and equally patience-requiring new phase has been entered with the declaration of the PKK terrorist organization to lay down arms and dissolve on May 12, 2025.

Opportunities for provocation, misunderstandings, and sensitivities that will arise from trivial reasons should not be allowed.

It is vital that everyone uses a responsible language, avoids falling into the corridors of polemics that lead to a cliff, does not pay attention to political and ideological interest calculations, and does not deviate from the line of common sense and rationality.

Getting angry at the priest and breaking the fast is something that does not exist in our belief and faith.

While the Republic of Turkey defends its legitimate, legal, and sovereign existence to the end, it has never engaged in negotiations and ceasefire efforts with terrorism, and it will not do so in the future.

Realistic, developed, and comprehensive peace is structured between hearts and views.

Peace is not a one-winged bird.

Moreover, it is not possible to take off with one wing.

The ability to fly with the second wing depends on the selflessness, self-confidence, generosity, resilience, prayers, and ownership of our entire nation.

The Turkish nation has welcomed and embraced the goal of a terror-free Turkey and the solid steps taken with joy from east to west, north to south.

In this process we have reached, Turkey will no longer be a country associated with terrorism, etched in memories with sorrowful headlines.

A terror-free Turkey is one that has strengthened its democracy, increased its economic prosperity, and is characterized by equal rights and obligations based on the rule of law.

For the mentioned goal to achieve long-term and lasting success, the construction of the 'terror-free Turkey' strategy requires a broad social consensus in line with national objectives.

In this context, it is the most reasonable option to establish a commission in the TBMM, which is the embodiment of national will, with the participation of political parties representing all segments of society to determine the roadmap for the upcoming period.

In accordance with traditions, our sincere proposal and wish is to establish the 'New Century's Terror-Free Turkey Strategy; National Unity and Solidarity Commission' upon the call of the TBMM President.

First and foremost, in order to conduct the commission's work with broad participation and transparency, the commission should consist of 100 members, including representatives of 16 political parties represented in the Grand National Assembly, and commissions should be established according to working conditions.

Secondly, each political party represented in the TBMM should be represented by at least one member, and the other members should be determined according to the representation ratio of the parties with a group.

Thirdly, each political party represented in the TBMM should be able to assign two experts in their fields to work in the commission.

Fourthly, the commission should determine its own working procedures and principles.

Fifthly, the TBMM President should preside over the commission.

Sixthly, decisions in the commission should be made by a simple majority.

Seventh, the decisions made in the commission should be turned into proposals by the members of parliament and submitted to the relevant specialized commissions and the TBMM General Assembly.

In a period where regional and global developments are accelerating, and political, economic, and diplomatic relations are continuously manifesting different faces and directions, it is a tremendous event for our Turkey to build a terror-free new century solely with its own means, without intermediaries or connections.

More importantly, our Turkey is the address for resolving international conflicts, a reliable center for diplomatic maneuvers and dialogue levers, and the pivot of desires for peace and tranquility.

As the destructive blows to the international established order intensify the birth pangs of a new world day by day, it is our debt to history, our ancestors, and future generations to strengthen our internal front and peace environment in accordance with the measures of justice and fairness.

This debt will certainly be paid, and the Republic of Turkey will eradicate the scourge of separatist terrorism from its agenda.

The status quo has lost, the established norms have been disrupted, and taboos have been toppled one by one.

The developments that broke the shell with the call from Imralı on February 27, the agreement on March 10 for the PYD/YPG to hand over its weapons to the Syrian Arab Republic and to integrate into the new administration's institutions, and the confirmation of the PKK's decision to lay down arms and dissolve on May 12 are very beneficial steps for Turkey and the regional countries.

The arrow has left the bow.

There is no turning back.

Any action, arrangement, trap, black propaganda, and agitation contrary to this will expose and circulate grave consequences.

Turkey belongs to all of us.

The Turkish nation is a great and powerful family.

Our late thinker Ziya Gökalp once wrote:

"The Turks and Kurds have always joined together in jihad to protect our revered homeland from the enemy and our sacred religion from corruption."

He also expressed the following:

"The fact that our National Pact gives the same value and importance to Turks and Kurds shows that the bonds of loyalty and fidelity between Turks and Kurds possess a sincerity that surpasses all kinds of description."

For a thousand years, we have been one, together, and brothers.

We are all together the Turkish nation.

No imperialist conspiracy, no foreign scenario or game, no lie or rumor can come between us; the eternal friendship and brotherhood that meet at the tree of the nation cannot be wasted or squandered.

The clear and well-known motivation for Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasha's landing in Samsun on May 19, 1919, is undoubtedly the unparalleled admiration, respect, and honorable attachment of the entire Turkish nation to its independence.

On Friday, May 16, 1919, at 16:30, the steamer that departed from Galata Pier with 79 passengers, including one woman, three children, six horses, and one automobile, reached Samsun on the morning of May 19, 1919, after a three-day journey.

The first step taken in Samsun aimed to build a new Turkish state from the broken ruins of our proud Empire, which had been destroyed, fragmented, and occupied in the world war it entered.

The Bandırma Steamer carried the ideals of the Republic of Turkey.

I wish to record and express clearly that the May 19 initiative is the awakening of the Turkish state consciousness that had concentrated and distinguished itself until that day, transitioning from potential to action, shaking off the dust of death.

Indeed, May 19, 1919, is a magnificent resistance capability that the Turkish state has developed and matured over centuries.

The invasion and occupation by hostile and colonial elements could not be blindly observed, nor could it be watched in a helpless and cowardly manner.

The high-ranking officials of the Ottoman Empire possessed a deep knowledge that could grasp the horizon to face disasters, foresee potential survival issues, and was a voice for the silent cry of the public conscience, risking their lives to preserve the existence of our precious nation.

As a result, solutions were sought, projects were prepared, and patriotic and nationalistic commanders and politicians who took on duties at every level of the state were involved in this process.

The May 19 initiative is, in summary, the dazzling strategic move of the Turkish state.

Even in the process of destruction, thinking about the establishment of a new Turkish state and realizing it by resisting oppression and tyranny is essentially the timeless success certificate of the Turkish nation.

May 19, 1919, is the incubation of October 29, 1923.

The end of those who do not take lessons from history is a bitter fate.

The incessant boasting and nonsense of those who do not comprehend May 19, 1919, and the foolishness of those who announce the return to Samsun actually stem from their fear of a Turkey without terrorism, realizing that they will not find a place for themselves and their petty politics.

However, fear has no benefit against death.

May 19 is the upright stance of national honor against oppression, a noble attitude that rejects compromise and surrender.

May 19 is not a decision of momentary impulses or a narrow cadre, but the Turkish state mind acting with Mustafa Kemal Pasha and his friends.

The national revival displayed yesterday to save the homeland shows the will that will carry us into the Century of Turkey today.

Considering the challenges our country faces, I have no doubt that our noble nation will support the historical and national consensus shaped on the basis of the People's Alliance until the end.

The 106-year period from 1919 to 2025 witnesses the reawakening of history and the rise of the great Turkish nation.

The independence and future of the Turkish nation will be protected at all costs.

No matter what anyone does, no matter what dirty and dark account they are involved in, no one will have the power or breath to weaken the Republic of Turkey.

The consciousness of May 19 is as alive as it was in the past, and the will that landed in Samsun is still present.

The power we need is hidden in the blood that flows in our veins.

With these thoughts, on the 106th anniversary of May 19, 1919, I commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, our heroes of the National Struggle, and our dear martyrs with gratitude, respect, and mercy, and I bow respectfully before their esteemed memories.

I wholeheartedly celebrate the 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day of the Turkish youth and the Turkish nation."
