The Ministry of Trade has halted the sale of a pencil case commonly used by children after detecting lead levels above the permitted limit. The hazardous product is being recalled from the market.
Important warning has been issued regarding pencil cases, one of the most commonly used school supplies in children's daily lives. The Ministry of Trade announced that during product safety inspections conducted across Turkey, a pencil case was found to contain lead levels significantly above the regulations. The sale of the product, which was determined to pose a health risk, has been immediately halted.
HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE DETECTION: SALE IMMEDIATELY BANNED
According to the announcement published in the Unsafe Product Information System (GÜBİS), it was determined that the total lead level in the "Logon Colorful" brand pencil case exceeded the limits in tests. Due to the much higher health risk associated with products that children come into direct contact with, the Ministry decided to withdraw the product from the market. A clear warning was also issued to consumers: "Do not use!"
MODEL 2028 BEING RECALLED ONE BY ONE
It has been reported that the recall process has been initiated for the pencil case with model and serial number 2028. The Ministry of Trade emphasized that inspections have been increased for both domestic and imported products, and all products carrying similar risks will be removed from the market.
It was stated that inspections against chemical substances threatening children's health are being carried out intensively.
