New details have emerged in the betting investigation that has shaken Turkey. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that the two matches under investigation are Ankaraspor–Nazilli Belediyespor and Ümraniyespor–Giresunspor. A detention order has been issued for 46 individuals, including Ahmet Çakar, Murat Sancak, Zorbay Küçük, Mert Hakan Yandaş, and Metehan Baltacı.
The details of the extensive betting investigation that has shaken the football world in Turkey have begun to emerge. It was announced that two matches have been included in the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The matches are;
Ankaraspor – Nazilli Belediyespor (April 28, 2024)
Ümraniyespor – Giresunspor (December 24, 2023)
It was stated that unusual betting activities and statistics contrary to the flow of the matches were detected in both matches.
"MATCH WITH NO SHOTS" AT THE CENTER OF THE FILE
The Ankaraspor–Nazilli Belediyespor match, which is part of the first phase of the investigation, was recorded as a "match with no shots." This situation was evaluated as a critical piece of data strengthening the possibility of match manipulation.
In connection with the match, detention orders were issued for Ankaraspor Club Owner Ahmet Okatan, Club President Mehmet Emin Katipoğlu, Nazilli Belediyespor President Şahin Kaya, and two coaches.
ÜMRANİYESPOR–GİRESUNSPOR MATCH ALSO UNDER SCRUTINY
The Ümraniyespor–Giresunspor match played in the TFF 1st League was also included in the file. A detention order was issued for a total of 6 people, including 1 football player, on suspicion of making an agreement that would affect the match result.
SCOPE OF THE OPERATION EXPANDED: DETENTION ORDER FOR 46 NAMES
Well-known figures in the football community have also become the focus of the investigation.
Among those with detention orders are:
- Sports commentator Ahmet Çakar
- Former Adana Demirspor President Murat Sancak
- Top-class referee Zorbay Küçük
- Fenerbahçe player Mert Hakan Yandaş
- Galatasaray's Metehan Baltacı
Arrest and detention procedures have been initiated for a total of 46 people. In the operations carried out, 35 people were detained, and it was determined that 5 individuals were abroad.
