In response to this situation, Nazilli Mayor Ertuğrul Tetik made a statement, clarifying that he was not detained and that the ongoing investigation has no connection to the municipality. Tetik expressed that the name of the municipality was used incorrectly and misleadingly in some media outlets.
In the TFF 3rd League Group 4, Nazillispor, which is going through difficult days, saw its president Şahin Kaya taken into custody as part of a football betting investigation. Nazilli Mayor Ertuğrul Tetik made a statement, clarifying that he was not taken into custody and that there is no connection between the club and the municipality. Following the publication of the news under the headline "Nazilli Belediyespor President Taken into Custody" by some media outlets, Nazilli Mayor Ertuğrul Tetik issued a written statement.
''WRONG AND MISLEADING''
In the statement, it was said, "Nazilli Municipality has no connection with Nazillispor A.Ş. either in the past or today. In some media outlets today, the news stating 'Nazilli Belediye Spor President Taken into Custody' uses our municipality's name in a wrong and misleading manner. It has become necessary to make the following statement for the correct information of the public," it was stated.
''NO AUTHORITY OR RESPONSIBILITY''
The club's name, which is Nazilli Belediyespor, changed after it became a corporation last season, and the statement continued as follows:
"Nazillispor A.Ş. has been structured as a completely private joint-stock company that is not affiliated with our municipality since its establishment. Therefore, it has no administrative, financial, legal, or institutional ties with Nazilli Municipality either in the past or today. The person taken into custody as part of the betting investigation has no relationship with Nazilli Municipality and is solely an executive of Nazillispor A.Ş. Our municipality has no authority or responsibility over this person or the activities of this private company. The mention of our municipality's name in some media outlets under the title 'Nazilli Belediye Spor' is completely erroneous, misleading to the public, and undermines our municipality's corporate reputation. Therefore, we urgently request the correction of the relevant statements. Nazilli Municipality will continue its work in line with the trust of the people of Nazilli, the principles of accuracy, and transparency."
