Sometimes these tragic losses occurred due to heart attacks during debates, and at other times as a result of armed attacks. They remain as sorrowful lines in the Assembly's records.

HALİT PAŞA – ARDAHAN MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT (1925)
One of the most tragic events that occurred in the GNAT during the early years of the Republic was the death of Halit Pasha. Halit Pasha, who was shot during a debate on February 9, 1925, passed away five days later. This incident was recorded as the first death in the Assembly.
MEHMET ABDURRAZAK CEYLAN – SİİRT MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT (1989)
In 1989, Mehmet Abdurrazak Ceylan, who was attacked with a firearm in the GNAT, lost his life at the scene. This incident led to a strong public outcry due to inadequate security measures.
FEVZİ ŞIHANLIOĞLU – ŞANLIURFA MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT (2001)
On January 30, 2001, during heated debates in the General Assembly, AK Party Member of Parliament Fevzi Şıhanlıoğlu fell ill and suffered a heart attack. Despite all interventions, Şıhanlıoğlu could not be saved after being taken to the hospital.
HASAN BİTMEZ – KOCAELİ MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT (2023)
On December 12, 2023, after his speech in the GNAT General Assembly, Hasan Bitmez from the Felicity Party suddenly collapsed. He suffered a heart attack and passed away in the hospital two days later. Those moments were also captured by live broadcast cameras.
SIRRI SÜREYYA ÖNDER – ISTANBUL MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT, DEPUTY SPEAKER OF GNAT (2025)
DEM Party Istanbul Member of Parliament and Deputy Speaker of the GNAT Sırrı Süreyya Önder remained in intensive care for 18 days after suffering a heart attack. He passed away at the age of 62 due to multiple organ failure.
