The first Cabinet meeting of the year, where the main agenda item was the capture of Nicolas Maduro by a U.S. operation and his transfer to New York, has concluded. President Erdoğan is making statements following the Cabinet meeting.
The Presidential Cabinet convened under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The first Cabinet meeting of the year lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes.
THE FIRST CABINET MEETING OF THE YEAR HAS CONCLUDED
The number one agenda item of the meeting was the capture and transfer to New York of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, who are to be attacked by the U.S. The Cabinet meeting also addressed the Terror-Free Turkey process, the current state of the economy, pension increases, and regional and global issues. After the meeting, President Erdoğan made statements in front of the cameras.
Highlights from Erdoğan's statements are as follows:
"We are brothers as 86 million, we share a common destiny, we are one and together from eternity to eternity. We need to hold tightly to our eternal and ancient brotherhood. We also do not forget this: The taller a mountain is, the denser the smoke at its peak. There have always been and will always be those who want to sow discord among us. Those who set various traps to turn our region into a sea of blood will first try to push us out of the equation. We hope we will not fall for these games."

When it comes to Turkey, when the peace and security of Turkey is at stake, we will set aside our differences and bind ourselves more closely together. We will be an unshakeable wall. In the most painful days of the national struggle, the late Akif called out: "Nations cannot be destroyed by rifles, armored vehicles, and armies; they are destroyed when the bonds between them are loosened and they fall into the concern of their own troubles and interests."
Today, those who point fingers at Turkey with extreme arrogance, regardless of their stature, want our state, our homeland. It is to prevent the ideal of a great and strong Turkey from turning into reality."
