Syrian-Kurdish parties have expressed mixed opinions on attending the Geneva 2 conference on January 22. The peace conference aims to find a political solution to the conflict in Syria

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Nuri Brimo, the spokesperson for the Syrian Kurdish Democracy Party (Al Party), said that some of the Kurdish parties under the Kurdish National Council will be attending the Geneva 2 conference under the umbrella of Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolution Forces .

Brimo added, "The UN did not want the Kurdish Council to attend the conference as a third party out of the Syrian opposition and regime, as other ethnic or religious components of Syria might also want to attend, so we will attend the conference under Syrian National Coalition."

However, PYD leader Salih Muslim, told AA said that the group will not be attending Geneva 2. "We would like to attend the conference under the Kurdish Council but they want to put us under the Syrian National Coalition which we would never accept because the Kurdish issue would not have any place in Geneva then." - Erbil
