"A CEASEFIRE IN SYRIA MAY NEED TO BE EXTENDED"
"There are many events in the process leading to the ceasefire. Let me briefly say this. Currently, the transfer of ISIS prisoners from Syria to Iraq is on the agenda. In such an environment, the ceasefire may need to be extended a bit more. There is currently such a demand. There is an ongoing diplomatic traffic, and we are part of it. We do not want conflict. I hope a positive peace process will be initiated. I hope there will be a serious will to resolve it through dialogue.
HOW WAS THE SDF RESOLVED IN TWO WEEKS?
Honestly, it was not a surprise for me. We knew this very well. We had been reading the dynamics in the region where the YPG occupied a dense Arab population for years. We had information about the tribal structure and how and when the tribes would rebel. Mazlum Abdi is a message carrier; he implements the given instructions. The sustainability of the PKK presence in Sinjar is not viable. The organization needs to transform itself before facing extinction. The SDF does not listen to any messages coming from Ankara. They should not be used as tools for others' agendas.
HOW WILL THE PEACE COUNCIL WORK IN GAZA?
There are two committees under the Peace Council. One will take over the administration that represents Gaza's national will. The other will take over the secretariat of Gaza. Gaza is our urgent issue. We are at the forefront of this work. The Rafah Border Crossing may open next week. Turkey's Red Crescent is currently conducting uninterrupted aid activities. In terms of shelter, people are condemned to tents in this cold weather. Currently, there is an issue of transporting containers. The process of accepting new members is ongoing. I think 6-7 more countries will join. It could settle around 25-30. Our work in Gaza is not easy; now another struggle is beginning.
WILL TURKISH SOLDIERS GO TO GAZA?
Israel is against everything related to us, but our struggle will continue. If the necessary conditions arise, we have a will regarding military support. (The disarmament of Hamas) is a topic that should be included in the roadmap. Our number one priority is for the population of Gaza to remain in Gaza.
"WE ARE IN FAVOR OF A BROAD-BASED ALLIANCE IN THE REGION"
We are in favor of a broad-based alliance in the region. The broader it is, the better, but it can also start with a more core group. Our region needs such a beginning. We want to establish an alliance to reduce polarization.
