A new development has occurred regarding Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan, who is facing a travel ban abroad due to his statements targeting refugees, which have been deemed as hate speech and discrimination. Özcan announced that the travel ban has been lifted.
After his statements regarding refugees, Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan, who was banned from leaving the country, made a statement. Özcan said that the ban has been lifted.
ÖZCAN'S BAN ON LEAVING THE COUNTRY HAS BEEN LIFTED
In a statement he made on his social media account, Özcan said: "My ban on leaving the country has been lifted! A year ago, an investigation was initiated against me upon the tweet of Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç because I did not grant business licenses to refugees in Bolu and because I wanted them to leave Bolu. I just learned that the Bolu 2nd Heavy Criminal Court unanimously lifted the 'ban on leaving the country' imposed on me.
But those who imposed this ban need not worry; I have no place to escape to! Additionally, I have no regrets about the decisions I made and the actions I took regarding the departure of refugees from Bolu. I leave myself to the conscience of the Turkish nation."
