A bus collided with a car that was trying to enter the toll booth on the North Marmara Highway in Silivri, Istanbul. In the accident, 2 of the 3 people in the car lost their lives, while 1 person was injured.
A terrible accident occurred in Istanbul. The accident took place around 3:30 PM at the Kınalı toll booths on the Northern Marmara Highway.
A BUS CRASHED INTO A CAR TRYING TO ENTER THE TOLL BOOTH
According to reports, a bus crashed into the car driven by Emir Şengün, who was trying to enter the toll booth. Firefighters, emergency medical teams, and police arrived at the scene after nearby residents reported the incident.
THE TOLL IS HEAVY
Health teams determined that Emir Şengün and his wife Fatma Şengün, two of the three people in the car, lost their lives in the accident. The injured G.Ş. (16) was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The bodies of Emir Şengün and Fatma Şengün were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution Morgue.
AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED
On the other hand, it was learned that the health conditions of the passengers on the bus were good. Police closed two lanes of traffic due to the accident. After the vehicles were removed from the scene by a tow truck, traffic flow returned to normal. An investigation has been initiated regarding the accident.
STATEMENT FROM THE ISTANBUL GOVERNORATE
In a statement regarding the accident, the Istanbul Governorate said, "On Friday, January 23, 2026, at around 3:30 PM, a traffic accident occurred as a bus traveling in the same direction crashed into a car trying to enter the Kınalı toll booths in Silivri District. Two of the three passengers in the car lost their lives at the scene. One injured passenger was taken to the hospital by health teams for treatment. An investigation has been initiated regarding the incident," it was stated.
