Trinity Rodman, daughter of Dennis Rodman, signed a 3-year contract with Washington Spirit worth 1 million Euros annually, becoming the highest-paid player in women's football history.
American star footballer Trinity Rodman made history by breaking the salary record in women's football with her new contract signed with Washington Spirit.
THREE-YEAR CONTRACT, RECORD SALARY
Trinity Rodman, the 23-year-old daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman, signed a new three-year agreement with Washington Spirit. The contract, which has an annual value of 2 million dollars including bonuses, has positioned Rodman as "the highest-paid female footballer in the world." The new contract will keep the star player at Washington Spirit until 2028.
AGENT CONFIRMED
Rodman's agent Mike Senkowski stated in an interview with ESPN that this agreement has brought Trinity Rodman to the top of women's football history, saying, "This contract makes her the highest-paid female footballer in the world."
"A MOMENT THAT CHANGES THE RULES OF THE GAME"
The young star shared her feelings after signing with the following words:
"It feels amazing. I am very happy and very lucky. I think this is an incredible moment that changes the rules of the game. It's hard to put into words how it feels."
BONMATÍ'S TITLE PASSED ON
Before this contract, Barcelona's Aitana Bonmatí, who won the Ballon d'Or in 2023, 2024, and 2025, was considered the highest-paid female footballer in the world. With Rodman's new contract, this title has changed hands.
NEW SALARY ERA IN NWSL
The salary cap per team in the NWSL for the 2025 season was set at 3.5 million dollars. However, with the "High Impact Player" rule approved in December, clubs were allowed to exceed the salary cap by up to 1 million dollars for players meeting certain criteria. Rodman's contract became the most notable example of this regulation.
FULL SUPPORT FROM WASHINGTON SPIRIT
Club owner Michele Kang stated, "Trinity represents the future of this club and women's football."
A CAREER FILLED WITH SUCCESSES
Rodman played a significant role in Washington Spirit's league championship in her first season in 2021 and was named "Rookie of the Year" that same year. The star player, who has worn the U.S. National Team jersey 47 times since 2022, has scored 11 goals. She contributed to the gold medal won by the U.S. in the 2024 Paris Olympics with three goals.
