The 5-year-old daughter of Başak Gürkan Arslan, who was killed by her father-in-law in Ankara, witnessed the horror with her own eyes. The little girl recounted the events, saying, "My dad held her, my grandpa cut my mom. There was blood from my mom on the floor, and I saw the bones in her throat."
Başak Gürkan Arslan, who was stabbed to death by her father-in-law in front of her 5-year-old daughter in the Yenimahalle district of Ankara, was bid farewell on her final journey. During the funeral, reactions against femicides were expressed, and the family called for justice.
FATHER-IN-LAW ATTACKED WITH A KNIFE FROM THE KITCHEN
During the ceremony held at the Pir Sultan Abdal Cemevi, tears flowed as Arslan's sister, Yaprak Nar, recounted the moment of the incident. According to Nar's claims, while Arslan was at home with her daughter, her father-in-law and her husband, who was in the process of divorce, came to the house. The father-in-law took a knife from the kitchen, saying, "I will handle this," and attacked the young woman.

Nar stated that the little girl witnessed the horror, saying, "My sister's daughter said, 'My dad held her, my grandpa cut my mom. My mom's blood was on the floor, I saw the bones in her neck.' All of this happened in front of the eyes of a 5-year-old child."
"WE WANT JUSTICE"
Yaprak Nar stated that the family had discussed divorce and alimony issues shortly before the murder, saying, "Okay, don't pay alimony, let everyone go their own way. But despite their acceptance, they went home and killed my sister. Such a thing is unacceptable. We want justice."
REACTIONS AT THE FUNERAL
Başak Gürkan Arslan's funeral was carried by women. Slogans were chanted to draw attention to femicides during the ceremony. The family claimed that both the father-in-law and the husband in the process of divorce were involved in the murder.
NEIGHBORS ARE SHOCKED
Site manager İhsan Kaplan stated that they went downstairs upon hearing the noise during the incident and learned about the tragedy at that moment. Kaplan expressed their astonishment, saying, "We have not witnessed any arguments within the family until now."
