During his visit to the US for official talks, Lammy shared on his X account that the situation in the Middle East continues to be dangerous following the conflict that began with Israel's attacks on Iran. Minister Lammy stated, "We are determined that Iran must never possess nuclear weapons."

AGREEMENT REACHED

Lammy noted that he met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US President Donald Trump's Special Representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, at the White House, and they discussed "how an agreement could prevent the deepening of the conflict." The British Minister emphasized, "There is a window of opportunity to achieve a diplomatic solution within the next two weeks."

WHAT HAPPENED?

On June 13, Israel launched extensive attacks targeting not only Iran's nuclear facilities in various cities but also the upper command of the military.

While the Chief of Staff of Iran, the Commander of the Revolutionary Guards, and several senior commanders, along with 9 nuclear scientists, were killed in the attacks, the total civilian casualties were reported to be 227.

In Iran's retaliation against Israel with ballistic missiles, it was reported that 25 people were killed and over 500 were injured. According to a statement from the Iranian Ministry of Health on June 15, at least 224 people were killed and more than 1,277 were injured in Israel's attacks on Iran. Many countries, including Turkey, condemned Israel.
