The statement of the 17-year-old cousin who stabbed and killed 9-year-old Yasemin Yıldırım and was subsequently arrested is chilling. M.Ç., who lost his mother to cancer and fell into depression, confessed to the murder, saying, "I did it. I had decided to kill someone, but I didn't know who I would kill. It just happened."
The family living in an apartment in Block A of a site in the Kemertaş neighborhood of Diyarbakır reported to the police that their 9-year-old daughter, Yasemin Yıldırım, was missing. Following the report, police teams were dispatched to the area, and search efforts were conducted with the help of citizens.
STABBED TO DEATH
As a result of the efforts, Yasemin's body was found in the fire escape on the 2nd floor of Block B of the site where she lived. In the initial examination conducted by the 112 Emergency Health teams, it was determined that the child, who was believed to have died from stab wounds, was sent to the Diyarbakır Forensic Medicine Institution to determine the exact cause of death.
17-YEAR-OLD COUSIN ARRESTED
As part of the investigation launched regarding the incident, the victim's 17-year-old cousin, a girl named M.Ç., who lives in the same building, was taken into custody. During the search of the suspect's home, a knife believed to have been used in the incident, along with six bloody shoes and a bloody wet wipe, were found. After police procedures, M.Ç. was arrested by the judicial authorities on charges of "intentional murder."
Additionally, M.Ç.'s 17-year-old cousin, İ.Y.T., was also taken into custody regarding the incident. İ.Y.T. was released under judicial control measures of "not leaving the residence."
CONFESSED IN HER STATEMENT: IT JUST HAPPENED
According to the news by Musa Kesler from Hürriyet; M.Ç., who lost her mother to cancer last year and fell into depression, confessed to the murder in her first statement, saying, "I killed her." M.Ç. stated, "I had decided to kill someone, but I didn't know who I would kill." According to her statement, she decided to kill Yasemin Yıldırım one day before the murder. When asked why she decided to kill her, she explained, "It just happened."
