In an incident that took place in Ribeirao Preto, Brazil, bodybuilder Luiz Garnica (38) and his mother Elizabete Arrabaça are accused of killing Garnica's wife, Larissa Rodrigues, with rat poison.

According to allegations, 37-year-old Pilates instructor Larissa was planning to divorce her husband after discovering that he was cheating on her. However, she lost her life before she could carry out this plan. The police stated that Larissa was poisoned and that her mother-in-law was involved in the incident along with her husband.

Larissa realized her husband had a secret affair after finding sex toys in Garnica's car. She told her family that she was considering divorce, but unfortunately, she did not have the chance to act on this decision before her death.

According to the police, mother-in-law Elizabete administered the poison to Larissa at home. An autopsy conducted after the incident revealed that Larissa's blood contained a banned and deadly rat poison known as "chumbinho." This substance is sold illegally in Brazil despite being illegal.

Garnica claimed that when he returned home on the day of the incident, he found his wife unconscious in the bathroom and intervened. However, the police determined that rigor mortis had already set in Larissa's body and that Garnica was attempting to destroy evidence at the scene. Detective Fernando Bravo stated, "When we arrived at the scene, Garnica's behavior was very suspicious. The body belonged to someone who had died a long time ago, and he had tried to clean the house."

The investigation also revealed that mother-in-law Elizabete had been searching for poison. The police noted that about 15 days before the incident, Elizabete called a friend asking for help to obtain poison, even asking, "Where can I find it?"

A witness also confirmed that Elizabete was looking for a substance containing lead. In light of all this evidence, the police concluded that Larissa was poisoned and killed as part of a joint plan by both her husband and mother-in-law.

It was revealed that Garnica went to the movies with his girlfriend and spent the night with her before his wife passed away. The police announced that a photo taken with his unidentified girlfriend was sent by an anonymous tipster. Garnica also admitted to the relationship.

According to the information obtained, Garnica had been having a secret relationship with this woman for about 1.5 years.

Fake Farewell Message on Social Media After the Murder

After Larissa's death, Garnica made an emotional post on social media, stating, "I love you. Wherever you are, you made me the happiest man in the world." However, this post also drew public backlash.

This horrific incident is just one example of the recent poison-related murders in Brazil. In February, a woman accused of killing three relatives with arsenic-laced New Year's cake was found dead in prison.

42-year-old Deise Moura dos Anjos died in her cell at a women's prison near Porto Alegre. The woman, who was charged with three murders and three attempted murders, had denied the allegations.
