Ahmet Özer, who was removed from the position of Mayor of Esenyurt and sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison in the "City Consensus" case, thanked MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli for his reaction to the verdict against him. Özer also made a call, stating, "Mr. Bahçeli and Mr. Feti Yıldız sometimes speak the truths that we all would sign under, but we are now expecting actions."

Özer, who thanked MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli for his reaction to the decision made against him, stated, "I thank Mr. Bahçeli for his statement. He has spoken the truth. This file is completely empty, and the motive behind it has been certified by the partner of the government itself. Mr. Bahçeli and Mr. Feti Yıldız sometimes speak truths that we all would sign under, but we expect action now. Of course, we value these, we thank them, but we expect them to take steps to end injustices and lawlessness," he expressed.
WHAT DID BAHÇELİ SAY?
MHP leader Bahçeli made a written statement on social media yesterday regarding the 6 years and 3 months prison sentence given to Özer, using the following expressions: "The goal of a 'Terror-free Turkey' is the most significant initiative and purpose of the last century. Peace, tranquility, stability, and security are both the right and the undeniable desire and pursuit of the Turkish nation. In this context, we must not forget that everyone and all of us are obliged to act and serve accordingly."
The 6 years and 3 months prison sentence given to Esenyurt Mayor Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer for the crime of 'membership in an armed terrorist organization' contradicts universal legal principles and is in stark contrast to the goal and effort of a 'Terror-free Turkey.' This decision has no counterpart in the collective conscience and no reasonable justification.
The notorious decision of the Istanbul 14th Heavy Criminal Court is problematic and contradicts the principles of fairness and justice. Therefore, my sincere wish and hope is that the mentioned court decision is corrected in the appeal stages, and that justice is truly served. Our acute expectation is that the Turkish legal system provides judicial and moral support to the sense of national unity and solidarity, free from prejudices."
AHMET ÖZER'S PRISON SENTENCE
The decision hearing of the case in which Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was tried on the charge of being a member of an 'armed terrorist organization' was held yesterday. In the hearing held in the courtroom located in the Marmara Prison campus in Silivri by the Istanbul 14th Heavy Criminal Court, Özer, who was sentenced to be released on November 11, 2025, and was tried for the crime of 'membership in an armed terrorist organization' with a prison sentence ranging from 7 years and 6 months to 15 years, made a defense. Özer rejected the accusations in his defense. After the break, the court announced its decision, sentencing Ahmet Özer to 6 years and 3 months in prison for 'membership in an armed terrorist organization.'
