A farmer named Süleyman Nabi Bulut, who reacted to the price of lettuce being set at 2 TL in İzmir and stated that he would feed his products to sheep, announced that after his video went viral, an investigation was launched against him on charges of "hoarding." He expressed his frustration by saying, "While I was seeking my rights, I ended up in the position of a hoarder."
In İzmir Bergama, lettuce producer Süleyman Nabi Bulut shared a video to protest the low prices offered for his products, stating, "They are offering 2 TL for this lettuce. If I sell it, I am dishonorable; I will feed it to the sheep," which made headlines.
"THEY CAME TO ME AND TOOK A REPORT"
The farmer's video, which protested prices that do not cover production costs, quickly resonated on social media. Bulut stated that after the viral video, actions were taken against him, saying, "They accused me of hoarding after the video. They came to me and took a report. While I was trying to defend my rights, I ended up in a hoarding situation."
REACTION TO RISING COSTS IN AGRICULTURE
Bulut's video brought back to the forefront the economic difficulties faced by producers, while social media users supported the farmer's reaction. Many argued that despite the high input costs, the suppression of product prices puts producers in a difficult position.
