The collective bargaining negotiations concerning 600 thousand public workers continue to progress. The third meeting, with the participation of both the workers' and employers' sides, started today at 14:00. The meeting, hosted by the Turkish Heavy Industry and Service Sector Public Employers' Union, brought together representatives from Türk-İş and Hak-İş.
THE OFFER FOR THE LOWEST WAGE IS 1,800 LIRA
As of this moment, discussions have begun on the previously presented draft proposal consisting of 21 articles. Accordingly, it is requested that the lowest daily wage in the public sector be raised to 1,800 lira. Seniority bonuses and a share of welfare are also among the demands. The date for the next meeting will also be clarified during the discussions.
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan stated that the public collective bargaining processes and the preparation of a framework protocol within this scope should be conducted in a multi-faceted and very sensitive manner.
Recalling that Türk-İş and Hak-İş presented their demands for wage increases, Işıkhan noted that the first meeting of the parties was held on April 16, hosted by the Turkish Heavy Industry and Service Sector Public Employers' Union (TÜHİS).
Emphasizing that the process of negotiations is ongoing, Işıkhan stated: "A new meeting will be held on April 24. We are conducting the process with sensitivity within this framework. I believe it is too early to say anything at this moment. As a Ministry, we also have the responsibility of coordination. There will be a certain level of agreement on the figures brought by both sides. Especially regarding wages, personal rights, and social assistance, the technical teams are working very seriously. Our Ministry of Treasury and Finance, as well as our Presidency's General Directorate of Personnel and Principles, are part of this team, and each item is being evaluated in detail, and the process is progressing in this way.
