Necla Üstünel recounted her experience of being poisoned by her sister-in-law, who allegedly mixed a drug into her drink on the day of her son's wedding. Üstünel stated, "She confessed to my brother-in-law. She said, 'I did it to ruin the wedding.' My brother-in-law responded, 'If you have such a grudge, why didn't you do it another day? Why are you poisoning her on the happiest day of her life?'"

In August 2023, an incident occurred in Ankara where, according to allegations, Necla Üstünel was taken to the hospital after feeling unwell on the day of her son's wedding.
LEARNED THE TRUTH AFTER WATCHING THE CAMERA FOOTAGE
After watching the camera recordings of the hairdresser she visited on the day of the incident, Üstünel realized the situation and learned that a sedative drug referred to as "antidepressant" was mixed into her drink by her sister-in-law, F.Ü. Üstünel, who stated that there was a possibility of permanent damage to her body due to the situation she experienced, reacted to the fine imposed on her sister-in-law. Üstünel expressed that they entered a retrial process upon their appeal and stated that she would continue her legal battle until the end.
"MY THROAT BURNED, I SAID DID SHE ADD POISON TO IT?"
Necla Üstünel mentioned that her sister-in-law also came to the hairdresser on the wedding day, saying, "There, she added a bottle of antidepressant to my drink. I realized it as soon as I drank it. My throat burned, I warned my sister next to me. I said don't drink it, did she add poison to it? She didn't drink it, but I probably didn't realize it due to the excitement of the wedding. We got ready and went to the hall. When we arrived at the hall, the effect of the drug started to become more apparent. I started to swell, I said I feel very bad. After that, I was taken to the hospital by ambulance. They were going to diagnose me with a stroke because the symptoms you mentioned resemble this, the doctor said. After the serum was administered, I felt a bit more relaxed," she said.
"I REMOVED THE SERUM AND RETURNED TO THE HALL"
Necla Üstünel explained that she went to the wedding of her own free will by signing, saying, "But at that moment, my son, who was the groom, said, 'Burak is crying,' so I removed the serums and returned to the hall. What upset me the most was that my son, the groom, wanted to play with me when I entered the hall. I will never give up on my case. She poisoned my most beautiful, most special day. I will never give up on this case until justice is served, even if it embarrasses 80 million people," she stated.
"HER AIM WAS TO EMBARRASS ME, BUT I NEITHER FELL NOR BROKE"
Claiming that her sister-in-law intentionally poisoned her, Necla Üstünel said, "Her only aim was to embarrass me. But I neither fell nor broke. I even got into the ambulance on my own feet, thank God," she expressed.
"WE FILED A DIRECT COMPLAINT"
Necla Üstünel explained that they went to the hairdresser and looked at the camera footage upon her husband's advice, saying, "The hairdresser was someone we knew. We went, my daughter turned on the camera, and she directly encountered these images. After that, we immediately filed a complaint with the duty court," she said.
"SHE SAID 'I DID IT TO EMBARRASS THE WEDDING'"
Necla Üstünel stated that she would not give up her case until F.Ü. received the punishment she deserved, and mentioned that her brother-in-law was shocked when he heard about the incident. Üstünel said, "My brother-in-law said, 'Sister-in-law, I don't know what to say to you. My wife has no fault, no sin.' Because my brother-in-law was also shocked. She had already confessed to my brother-in-law. She said she did it to embarrass the wedding. My brother-in-law said, 'If you have such a grudge, why did you poison this woman's most beautiful day?'"
"OUR APPEAL WAS ACCEPTED"
The lawyer of the case, Burcu Aslan, provided the following statements regarding the process: "The defendant said, 'I use this medication and I accidentally gave it to my sister-in-law,' so the indictment is entirely based on this, and it is prepared for causing injury by negligence. It is accepted in court. My client learned that the defendant was sentenced for causing injury by negligence and even received a judicial fine, which was suspended, because she went to the courthouse for another reason that day. At that stage, she came to us. Since the time had not expired, we prepared another appeal. We presented everything to the court, stating that this was intentional injury, that we had video recordings, and that we had witnesses before and after the incident. Our appeal was accepted, and a retrial began according to general provisions. From now on, we will inform the court about both the video recordings and the witnesses before and after the incident, and we will argue that this was an attempt to murder, or at least intentional injury, and that a decision should be made on this basis."
