Thirty-nine people were hospitalized with suspected food poisoning due to the chicken pilaf served at a mevlit dinner held in a house in Arnavutköy, Istanbul. It was stated that samples would be taken from the markets where the chicken was purchased.

In Arnavutköy, 39 people who were determined to have eaten chicken pilaf at a religious gathering held in a house fell ill and were hospitalized for treatment.

In the evening hours, police teams were directed to the area following a report of food poisoning at a house on Ufukhan Street in Anadolu Neighborhood.

The teams spoke with the owner of the apartment where the gathering took place, Zekeriya Y. (45). The homeowner stated that they served chicken and pilaf in the same house as part of the meal held around 3:00 PM, and that 20 kilograms of chicken meat were purchased from 2 different chain supermarkets. He also reported that some guests who ate this meal in the evening complained of vomiting and weakness.

39 PEOPLE POISONED BY CHICKEN PILAF

It was determined that some individuals went to the hospital on their own, while others were taken to the hospital by ambulance after initial intervention by health teams.

It was learned that a total of 39 people, who are not in life-threatening condition and whose general health is good, are continuing their treatment in 3 different hospitals.

It was also noted that samples would be taken from the 2 supermarkets from which the chicken meat was allegedly purchased through the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
